London : Travelguide

Ayant de la famille très proche vers Londres, j’y allais plusieurs fois par an depuis longtemps. C’est une ville qui me tient vraiment à cœur parce que, en plus d’être particulièrement calme pour une grande ville et pleine de parcs, d’arbre et fleurs, c’est selon moi la ville où les gens sont parmi les plus adorables. Je ne pourrais jamais m’en lasser et j’ai d’ailleurs réservé un billet d’avion pour y aller cet hiver en rédigeant cet article 🙂

Having very close family to London, I went there several times a year for a long time. It’s a city that is really close to my heart because, in addition to being particularly calm for a big city and full of parks, trees and flowers, I think it’s the city where people are the most adorable. I could never get bored of it and I booked a plane ticket to go this winter while writing this article 🙂

Comment se déplacer ?

Depuis l’aéroport de Gatwick et selon où vous séjournez, il y a des train qui desservent tous les environs et le « Gatwick Express » qui vous emmène au centre-ville en 30 minutes. Même principe toutes les 15 minutes depuis l’aéroport Heathrow.

From Gatwick Airport and depending on where you stay, there are trains to all areas and the Gatwick Express which takes you to the city center in 30 minutes. Same from Heathrow Airport every 15 minutes.

Ensuite, je trouve que la meilleure façon de se déplacer dans la ville est avec la « Oyster Card ». Je l’ai prise il y a quelques année lors d’une escale de plusieurs jours à Londres avant d’aller en Islande, et je me demande vraiment pourquoi je ne l’ai pas fait avant.

Then I think that the best way to get around the city is with the « Oyster Card ». I took it a few years ago during a few days in London before going to Iceland, and I really wonder why I did not do it before.

Cette carte, comme beaucoup de cartes de transport en France, fonctionne par système de recharge. Vous ajoutez le montant que vous souhaitez dans les machines dédiés présentes à toutes les gares et stations de métro et ensuite vous pouvez l’utiliser même dans les bus. Il suffit d’une carte du réseau de transport de la ville et vous pourrez vous déplacer facilement de partout !

This card, like many transport cards in France, works by charging system. You add the amount you want in dedicated machines present at all stations and metro stations and then you can use it even in buses. All you need is a map of the city’s transportation network and you can easily move anywhere!

Où manger ?

Je n’ai pas particulièrement de restaurant préféré là-bas parce que tout est bon et il y en a pour tous les goûts et les régimes alimentaires. Alors je vais vous donner celui de Youssef 😉 Il s’agit du « Comptoir Libanais », une enseigne présente uniquement à Londres (dont un à l’aéroport Heathrow) et qui compte une petite dizaine de restaurants un peu partout dans la ville. Si vous testez, vous me donnerez vos impressions !

I do not particularly have a favorite restaurant there because everything is good and there is something for all tastes and diets. So I’ll give you Youssef’s one 😉 This is the « Comptoir Libanais », a brand only present in London (including one at Heathrow Airport) and which has a dozen restaurants throughout the city . If you test, you will give me your impressions!

Où dormir ?

Le meilleur hôtel qui m’a été donné de faire à Londres est de loin de Shangri-La situé dans la tour The Shard, où les chambres ont une vue imprenable sur toute la ville avec un service d’exception. J’y suis restée quelques nuits et j’ai passé tout mon temps à admirer la vue à 360 degrés qu’offre l’hôtel, probablement la plus haute et la plus impressionnante de la ville. Si vous souhaitez y séjourner, je vous conseille de reserver une chambre avec vue sur le Tower Bridge.

The best hotel I stayed in London is by far Shangri-La located in The Shard tower, where the rooms have a breathtaking view of the entire city with exceptional service. I stayed for a few nights and spent all my time admiring the 360 degree view of the hotel, probably the highest and most impressive in the city. If you wish to stay there, I advise you to book a room with Tower Bridge view.

Sinon, j’ai l’habitude à chaque fois de prendre un logement sur Airbnb. Après avoir marché toute une journée sans s’arrêter, j’aime bien parfois ne pas avoir à sortir le soir et préparer à manger dans la cuisine d’un appartement (d’autant plus de Youssef est un cuisinier de folie =P). Mon quartier préféré est celui de Paddigton/Bayswater, un endroit très vivant à deux pas du plus grand parc de la ville et de Notting Hill et où l’on peut voir le célèbre ourson partout 😉

Otherwise, I usually take an apartment on Airbnb every time. After walking a whole day without stopping, I like sometimes not having to go out at night and prepare food in the kitchen of an apartment (especially Youssef is a cook of madness = P). My favorite neighborhood is Paddigton/Bayswater, a very cool place close to the largest park in the city and Notting Hill and where you can see the famous teddy bear everywhere 😉

A voir / à faire :

• Tower Bridge : j’ai pour habitude de descendre du bus ou métro une ou deux stations plus loin que ce pont pour y aller en marchant sur la promenade qui longe la Tamise et ensuite faire une pause en admirant ce célèbre pont – Tower Bridge: I usually get off the bus or metro a couple of stations away from this bridge to go walking on the boardwalk along the Thames and then take a break while admiring this famous bridge

• Big Ben : actuellement en travaux jusqu’en 2021, vous ne pourrez pas admirer la tour horloge, mais le coin reste un incontournable – Big Ben: currently under construction until 2021, you will not be able to admire the clock tower, but the neighborhood is a must

• London Eye : pour prendre de la hauteur et avoir une belle vue sur Londres, faites un tour dans cette roue au coucher du soleil, le moment que je préfère pour en faire – London Eye: to get high and have a good view of London, take a ride in this wheel at sunset, the moment that I prefer to do it

• Notting Hill : dans ce quartier, tout est tellement mignon et coloré que j’y vais à chaque fois que je suis à Londres, et je passe une matinée entière à rêver d’une petite maison ici 🙂 – Notting Hill: in this area, everything is so cute and colorful that I go there every time I’m in London, and I spend a whole morning dreaming of a little house there 🙂

• Oxford Street : le meilleur endroit pour faire du shopping ! Privilégiez d’y aller le matin pour éviter la foule – Oxford Street: the best place to go shopping! Prefer to go there in the morning to avoid the crowds

• Hamley’s : l’un des plus grands magasins de jouets au monde et situé sur Regent Street (à deux pas d’Oxford Street), il vaut vraiment le détour pour les enfants et le grands enfants 🙂 – Hamley’s: one of the largest toy shops in the world and located on Regent Street (just steps from Oxford Street), it’s definitely worth a visit for kids and grown-ups 🙂
  
  
• Covent Garden : autre endroit pour faire du shopping avec en plus une super ambiance des artistes un peu partout – Covent Garden: another place to go shopping with a great atmosphere of artists everywhere
• Patinoires : en hiver, un minimum de 3 places iconiques de Londres se transforment en patinoires, ma préférée est celle de Musée d’Histoire Naturelle où je compte bien passer des heures cet hiver – Ice rinks: in winter, a minimum of 3 iconic squares of London turn into ice rinks, my favorite is that of Museum of Natural History where I intend to spend hours this winter

• Brighton : si vous avez un peu de temps, vous pouvez aller en train de Londres vers cette petite ville assez connue et y passer la journée, c’est là-bas que j’ai de la famille et c’est une ville complètement atypique, je la conseille les yeux fermées ! – Brighton: if you have a little time, you can go by train from London to this little known city and spend the day there, it’s there that I have family and it’s a completely atypical city I recommend it with your eyes closed!
